Oh my. I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post. But I’m still in the background sewing my DIY style wardrobe.
I’m so excited that my first post back is a collab with Chalk and Notch patterns. The fantastic team there invited me to partner on their wonderful pattern line. They have a great selection that you can use to build your wardrobe. I chose the Victory Tank with fabric from my stash.
The pattern comes in two versions and I chose View A, size 4. A light woven with a nice drape is suggested. I strongly encourage following the suggestion because this becomes crucial during construction. The armhole finishing requires a “bag out” or “Burrito Roll” technique which is done better with a thinner fabric. The drapey-er fabric compliments the top style better as well.

Construction/Alterations
I love printed patterns and the packaging for this one is an experience onto itself. The pattern envelope and the instruction booklet, yes booklet, are so well done! I made few deviations from the instructions, which are stellar, however my fabric frayed easily so I did have to address that.
- French seaming used on the center back seam.
- Hemmed the tank using waistband stabilizer.
Here you can clearly see the cut and drape of the top. The neckline is wide and if I make this again, I’ll lengthen the straps to drop the neckline even further.

Styling
There are sooo many options for a top like this. An off-white tank like this can go with just about anything! On its own or with a blazer, it still looks good.

Thanks for stopping by and meet me in the comments with your feedback on this top! On to the next project!
