Hey Loves.
Excited once again to be a part of the Chalk + Notch Collaboration Team! It’s truly fun to participate and share with other sewists and DIY style bloggers. My co-collaborator for this project where iLah of @cocomayboutique and Lindsey of @thestitchfitz.
For this month, I was invited to give my take on their super cute and functional “Pixie Top”. This is a basic drop shoulder tee with several sleeve lengths and hem variations. Rather than the traditional knit fabric, I decided to use this mesh knit from G Street Fabrics. I chose this in particular because before I exercise, not matter if it’s running, lifting or tennis, I need a few minutes to warm-up and like to wear a long sleeve top. This does the trick perfectly.
The pattern itself calls for a knit that has good recovery. I think this is especially important with tees. Knits with less than optimal recovery will relax over time and the tee will look “sloppy” hence the need for rib-knit neck bands and such. This mesh was perfect as it has structure and the open weave is perfect for fitness wear.
My only alteration was to have the drawstring in the front using grommets for the opening. Easy pattern with great satisfaction and a big THANK YOU to Gabriela of Chalk + Notch patterns!
