I did it!!!

After years of struggling with buttonholes, I finally bought an industrial buttonhole machine!

Here’s how I did it. I stalked Facebook Marketplace for months until I found one in good condition and at a good price. Louisa, the owner, has a studio in Brooklyn. She is beyond cool. She’s a set designer and creates all manner of things including art. She didn’t need the buttonholer anymore, so she and I messaged and settled on a date for me to stop by the studio.

My son met me there and we took a look at the machine, let her show it in operation and the accessories. Then we agreed on a price. It took the three of us to get it into my SUV because the head, motor and table were all still connected.

Once I got her home, it took three of us to get her in the basement, but I made room. It’s a very straightforward machine that Louisa kept in great condition. It had outgrown its purpose with her, but it will get used LOTS with me!

There are various blade sizes and the length of the buttonhole is adjusted underneath the machine. It only sews the one basic buttonhole type, and that is just fine with me. I can’t tell you how great a day it was. I spent time with my son, his partner, ate a good meal and got a much desired machine.

What I Wore in Dubai🦋

I was so busy with work and sewing that I didn’t film my sewing process like I wanted to, but I wore me-made looks virtually every day. Everything was sewn with the extreme heat in mind.

All flowing, loose fitting and with lightweight fabric. Couldn’t have made a better strategy because my clothes would catch the breeze and would give me relief from the unfiltered sun.☀️🔥
