Hey y’all. So glad you’re here…and I’m actually glad fall is here too! As a self-professed summer baby, the change in weather is nice. Here in the Northeast, it’s perfect…cool, crisp and with all the fall COLORS! You couldn’t ask for a more perfect day for pictures.
Now that I’m sewing for cooler weather, I brought out this incredibly soft textured knit from one of my favorite fabric stores, G Street Fabrics. And of course, it’s from their infamous clearance bin. They really need to make me a brand ambassador with all the love I give them. Lol! Here you can really see the texture in the fabric. You can also see the top-stitching I chose to add.
This make was a test run for an upcoming collab with Chalk and Notch patterns using their “Page Hoodie”. Gabriela has a winner with this pattern and its perfect mate is the Hudson Pants pattern from True Bias. Both patterns are very straight forward and easy to sew.
Here are a few of the basic knit sewing techniques I used:
- used a light-weight fusible interfacing along the hem for stability
- used knit seam tape at the shoulder seams to reinforce
- minimal pressing with no sweeping back and forth
- used a walking foot for all seams
- stitch length was increased for top-stitching
I’m loving how cute and comfortable this set is. Totally “Quarantine Chic”. For styling, I paired this set with basic Vans, but you could pair with ankle boots too.
And while you’re at it, did you notice my outdoor furniture? It’s old, really old. I gave the wrought iron a face lift with some sanding, paint and new cushions from Home Sense. After hubs and I finished with the photoshoot, I leaned back into those cushions, let the sun hit my face and took a much needed break. Hope you’re out enjoying the change in weather too.
Until next time!

HI. really nice set. I’ve been searching for textured knit like yours but they don’t have any on the site now. BTW, i think the G Street Fabrics link may be broken.

Hi and thank you very much. I love the texture too but I purely just lucked up on it. That’s for letting me know about the link.
